Journeyman Carpenter/Foreman

Job Description

IRA Construction Inc is seeking highly motivated Carpenter Apprentices to join our team. If you are a Carpenter Apprentice eager to become a skilled Carpenter by improving your skills and learning new ones, this is your chance to launch your career!

We are San Jose based general contractor experienced in residential and commercial projects across the Bay Area. With over 35 years combined experience, our company is well informed about all aspects of the trades; from foundation, to electrical and plumbing, all the way to putting the final finishes that make our projects stand out from the rest.

Requirements

In this construction role you will work directly under the supervision of a qualified Journeyman Carpenter and construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, metal studs, and drywall using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools, while conforming to local building codes.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the field
  • Must be well-versed in all aspects of construction, at least partial skills in: framing, finish carpentry, drywall, plumbing, minor electrical, painting, etc.
  • Must possess the tools to complete carpentry work
  • Able to read plans
  • Knowledge of building codes
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license with insurance
  • High attention to detail
  • Accurate, efficient and organized
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Team player with great attitude
  • Great follow-up skills

  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation

Requirements

In this construction role you will work directly under the supervision of a qualified Journeyman Carpenter and construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, metal studs, and drywall using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools, while conforming to local building codes.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Helping install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials
  • Assisting with fitting and installing window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using a carpenter’s level, and laser levels
  • Positioning and holding timbers, lumber, or paneling in place for fastening or cutting
  • Cleaning work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site
  • Cutting timbers, lumber and/or paneling to specified dimensions, and drilling holes in timbers or lumber
  • Smoothing or sanding surfaces to remove ridges, tool marks, glue, or caulking
